Optimizing Design and Operational Parameters for Enhanced Mixing and Hydrodynamics in Bubbling Fluidized Bed Gasifiers: An Experimental and CFD-Based Approach

An experimental investigation of hydrodynamics gas-solid flow is carried out by engaging different designs air distributor plates. analysis three plates, i.e., perforated, 45° slotted and novel hybrid plate, revealed the difference in pressure drop minimum fluidization velocities (Umf) for varying input operational variables. Umf found to be lowest perforated highest whereas plate plate. The bubbles rise velocity ratio (Umf,b/Umf,f) noticed due relatively larger originating from bigger slot openings maximum owing smaller with dominant axial rise. Furthermore, bed height (h/L) observed as a through slots rupturing surface, causing more expansion. CFD also observe insight dynamics using simulations use two-fluid model (TFM) K-Epsilon turbulence models. shows promising results agreement results. that lower portion enhanced lateral dispersion/mixing solid particles angular an inlet. In contrast, exhibited straight upward motion small bubbles, no radial/lateral mixing. show mixed well mixing solids revealing distribution; therefore, optimum its drop, adequate Umf, intermediary moderate bubble across bed.
